Up next as we unveil the line-up for the 20th Writers at Woody Point festival: authors Elizabeth Hay and Rollie Pemberton/Cadence Weapon, and musical guests Pretty Archie, Anita Best and Sandy Morris.

Elizabeth Hay won the 2007 Giller Prize winner for Late Nights On Air and is a Woody Point favourite. She returns to the festival this summer to read from her new novel Snow Road Station, which will be published this spring.

Rollie Pemberton a.k.a Cadence Weapon is an award-winning musician, producer, DJ, and poet. He is the winner of the 2021 Polaris Music Prize for his album Parallel World and has served as Edmonton’s poet laureate. Rollie will read from his memoir Bedroom Rapper.

Anita Best and Sandy Morris are long-time members of the Woody Point family and true Newfoundland treasures. Sandy is our musician in residence. His always tasteful guitar licks have enriched the live and recorded music scene in the province for decades. Anita’s magnificent voice is unique and rooted in this place. They will perform before Shelagh Rogers interviews Michael Crummey on Saturday afternoon,

If you were at the festival last year, you know the thrilling Cape Breton groove Pretty Archie brings to the stage. The boys will be back this year to fill up the dance floor at the Saturday night party at the Legion.
