After nearly five sold-out shows in St. John's and vicinity, we're thrilled to bring this show to the West Coast at one of the island's most beloved venues. Gearóid McCarthy (Gearoid mc carthy Music), hailing from Foynes, County Limerick, Ireland, has a deep connection to Newfoundland, dating back to the first transatlantic flight between Foynes and Newfoundland. His popularity on TikTok and other social media platforms has fueled his boyhood dream of visiting Newfoundland, leading to this exciting tour!
Gearóid is cherished for his unique take on traditional Irish ballads, shanties, and country favorites. He regularly performs to sold-out audiences in Ireland with his band, The Rattlin' Rogues, and in a duo with Offaly banjo master Eddie Whalen, who will also join him on stage. A three-time All Ireland champion, Gearóid has performed in 45 countries and 40 U.S. states. Notably, he had a two-year residency at Raglan Road in Walt Disney World and toured for two years with Celtic Legends. Gearóid's captivating voice and storytelling ability leave audiences entranced, seamlessly transitioning from beautiful ballads to lively shanties.
Joining Gearóid on this tour are special guests Black Gold, Newfoundland's newest traditional folk group. Larry Martin and D'Arcy Broderick, of The Fables and the renowned Original Irish Descendants, form the backbone of this group. With three Gold Records, a JUNO, a Gabriel Award, and a career touring North America with some of the biggest names in music, the pair is celebrated for their spirited renditions of traditional Irish and Newfoundland favorites, significantly impacting the local music scene.
