Next up in our announcements for this year's festival line-up are Waubgeshig Rice, Donna Morrissey, and Looking Glass Ensemble!
Anishinaabe author originally from Wasauksing First Nation. His critically-acclaimed work includes the short story collection 'Midnight Sweatlodge' and the novels 'Legacy, ''Moon of the Crusted Snow, 'and 'Moon of the Turning Leaves. ' The New York Times has rightfully recognized him as one of the leading Indigenous novelists reshaping North American science fiction, horror, and fantasy. Waubgeshig’s dystopian tales are deeply rooted in his homeland, community, and storytelling traditions. Prior to his full-time dedication to literature and storytelling, he served as a journalist for nearly two decades.
Waubgeshig will share his words with us during a reading and also share a coffee during an intimate conversation with host Angela Antle.
📗 Our friend Donna Morrissey is a long-time Woody Point favorite, and we're thrilled that she'll return to us this year. Donna will be reading from her latest book, Rage the Night, at once the intimate tale of a man's quest to discover the truth of his birth and a riveting account of a real-life Newfoundland sealing disaster in 1914. The story is brilliantly and sensitively imagined by one of Canada's most beloved and bestselling authors.
You can also join Donna and Angela Antle for a conversation and question-and-answer session as part of our "Coffee With..." series.
🎵 For many years, those of us in Bonne Bay were privileged to experience brilliant, cutting-edge classical music and multi-disciplinary performances right in our own backyard. This year, we are excited to be bringing some of those performers back to our festival and to Woody Point. The Looking Glass Ensemble is an interdisciplinary collective, spotlighting collaboration among a diverse group of brilliant artists, most of whom will be familiar to our audience: Shannon Litzenberger, Christine Carter, Diederik van Dijk and Florian Hoefner.
Expect a multi-layered concert where you'll experience multiple art forms including music, dance, poetry, and film.
Tickets on sale May 11th at 11 am NDT via TicketPro.
